Company
Reengineering the justice system.
The law shouldn't only work for people who can afford it. Briefcase exists to put private, intelligent legal infrastructure in everyone's hands.
Mission, category, outcome
Legal services made people clients. Personal Law gives people legal autonomy.
Legal Empowerment is why the company exists. Personal Law is the market it is creating. Legal Autonomy is what changes for the person.

Legal Services
The model the market has been organized around.
Powerful institutions and wealthy families do not wait for a lawsuit, transaction, incapacity, or loss to begin organizing their legal lives. They maintain agreements, records, policies, decision rights, professional relationships, institutional memory, and response plans before the moment of consequence. Everyone deserves that foundation.
What we believe
The law may be complicated. Your ability to participate in it shouldn't be.
A serious tool, on the side of the person holding it.
Human-first. Technology-amplified.
Clarity is a form of justice.
Trust is the one advantage that can't be bought, rushed, or copied. And everything else Briefcase builds is an instrument for earning it.
Three commitments to every person who uses Briefcase: Understand what is happening. Remain in control. Always have a path forward. Everything the company builds is measured against them.
The access-to-justice crisis is bigger than law and lawyers. It is a crisis of exclusion and inequality.

Briefcase is a Delaware Public Benefit Corporation. Its public benefit is written into the corporate form, and directors balance it alongside stockholder interests and the interests of those materially affected by the company's conduct.
The charter commits the company to expand legal literacy and access to justice through technology, education, and the responsible, ethical use of AI. The governance model establishes an independent, non-equity Legal and Ethics Advisory Board with authority to review where the advice boundary is drawn and to publish a dissent when it disagrees, and mission reporting runs at least as often as the biennial statement a public benefit corporation owes its stockholders. A mission bound in law is more credible to courts, regulators, professionals, and the people it serves than a mission asserted in marketing.
